Rosa anglica practica medicinae. Ed: Nicolaus Scyllacius.Pavia: Franciscus Girardengus & Johannes Antonius Birreta, 1492.The first printed medical book of an Englishman. John of Gaddesden was a prebendary of St. Paul’s Cathedral and physician to Edward II. The work, to quote Garrison, “consists mainly of Arabist quackeries and countryside superstitions”; it was compiled about 1314.
