Compendium der Psychiatrie.Leipzig: A. Abel, 1883.Later editions of this book were called Lehrbuch. The sixth edition is notable in that in it manic-depressive psychoses were first mentioned as such. Ninth edition in 1927. Kraepelin, Professor of Psychiatry successively at Dorpat, Heidelberg, and Munich, was one of the greatest of all psychiatrists and a pioneer of experimental psychiatry.
