Neonatal surgery.London: Butterworth & Co., 1969.Rickham founded the first neonatal surgical unit in the world, at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool. This unit became the benchmark for similar units around the world. It brought about an improvement in the survival of newborn infants undergoing surgery from 22% to 74%.
