The horse; with a treatise on draught; and a copious index. Published under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge.

London: Baldwin and Cradock, 1831.

Youatt was one of the most widely published writers on veterinary medicine during the 19th century. This very practical work, originally published via the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, underwent many editions and revisions in England and the U.S. through the early 20th century. It may have been the most widely republished of the many books published by the SDUK, which formally existed from 1826 to 1846. The treatise on draught, or the uses of horses to perform work, included as a final chapter, was written and published anonymously by the civil engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
