Peyrilhe was the first to attempt an experimental study to determine the nature of cancer. He injected fluid from human mammary cancer into a dog; however, the dog howled and aggravated his housekeeper, who drowned it. Dujardin seems to be the first European to discuss acupuncture within its historical context as an ancient remedy still found to be of practical value.
